Hemorrhoids are what we call commonly as the piles. Although there are different other types of conditions in which the anal fissures tear up or anal skin tags which can also cause bleeding and are also referred to as piles; in general sense there is no distinction between the medical conditions which are related by these two terms. It may appear for some as to be a lot of discomfort and of course also a matter of embarrassment for a lot of patients suffering but bleeding Hemorrhoid can be cured and there is a lot of treatment for the same. A bit of understanding what causes piles or Hemorrhoids is necessary at this stage.

In spite of the fact that a lot of people do suffer from this condition, very little is actually discussed or detailed and not much is even known to people about this. The canal that is known as anus is a very short tube compared to the large or the small intestine. It is only about 1 ½ inches in length. It connects the large intestine to the outside world and discharges the physical waste outside. Now this canal is built up of several different layers. The upper most half of the anal canal is made up of a mucous membrane which feels no pain. Comparatively the lower half is made of skin mainly and feels pain considerably.

Since the upper part if made of mucous membranes and tissues and it feels no pain, any swelling and or ruptures in this zone is not felt by the patient. Hemorrhoids happen when the tissue swells and ruptures and starts to bleed. This can be because of a lot of reasons but the primary is the difficulty in passing hard to very hard faeces. Over time this discomfort to pass the hard faeces may cause the tissues in these areas to rupture and start to bleed. One may not even take a notice of the bleeding unless he feels something or if there is any discomfort during the passing of blood.

The blood usually comes out in bright red color indicating that it is fresh and just come out of the ruptured tissue. Usually this time of bleeding happens after passing the faeces pregnant women may also have experienced this condition if they have tried to put pressure while passing faeces. If the bleeding is considerable large in quantity patients may experience lumps which may come out after the faeces are passed. This condition is painful and may provide a lot of discomfort to the patient.

A patient may or may not feel pain during passing of the blood. While Hemorrhoids which are bleeding from the tissue and come after the faeces are fluid, those which are lumpier may cause pains. This is also known as piles attack or what we normally associate as piles. There is nothing to be worried about there are treatments both surgical and non surgical which can complete cure you. We will discuss more about these treatments in the later stages.
