Hemorrhoids are a condition which is very common. A large percentage of the population around 90 to 95 % often has complained problems of internal hemorrhoids or External Hemorrhoids in one time of their life or other. Interestingly Hemorrhoids conditions are known to prevalent in the later part of a person’s life when complications start in the Treitz’s ligament. Usually this is a condition which starts more into the 30’s and more men rather than women are affected by it. Even with the wide spread affect that Hemorrhoids have people often find it embarrassing to discuss or even report the problem. There are however several treatments which include medication and even surgical which can cure the problem.
There are several reasons why Hemorrhoids are caused. One of the major reasons is the hardening of the faeces and the difficulty that is faced while passing that through the anal canal. The result is the pressure that is put on the tissue on the upper half of the anal canal and the resulting rupturing of the tissue and bleeding. The kind of food that one consumes dictates to a large extent the condition of his bowel movement. People who consume lower quantities of fibers often face harder faeces and have problems passing them through the anal canal. However this is not the only condition that may Hemorrhoid Symptoms.
In cases of chronic pulmonary diseases when considerable abdominal pressure is created, the patient is known to develop Internal Hemorrhoids. One of the key things to remember here is that internal or external Hemorrhoids can also be caused due to pelvic tumors and or hereditary reasons.
Some people find it curios to know that Hemorrhoids are a condition that is prevalent in most of us. Only when they swell up and then start to bleed does the condition become acute for us to start looking for help.
At this stage a minor differentiation of internal and external Hemorrhoid needs to be done so that we can understand what is what. Condition wise there is no difference as both leads to an unnatural swelling of the tissue and the resulting bleeding from them. The dentate line is what works as a diving line between the upper and the lower part of the anal canal. The anal canal is the connecting pipe line that connects the rectum with the anus and then passes the faeces out. When the Hemorrhoids form in the upper part of this connecting pipeline that is the anal canal they are known as internal Hemorrhoids and when they form in the lower part, that is towards the anus, they are known as external Hemorrhoids.
The anal canal is well connected with the blood vessels supplying fresh blood. The surrounding area is filled with tissues which are connected with these blood vessels and provide the soft cushion for this area. When passing faeces undue pressure is exercised, the tissue gets compressed and starts to bleed resulting in the dark red blood that we see.
